WOMEN HEALTH CONFERENCE 4TH APRIL 2015 (REPORT)

Hello Friends its Saturday today and we are excited about tomorrow celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Happy Easter from our team to you!
On Thursday and we asked you to stand with us in prayer for the 3rd April 2015 Women Health Conference. Our greatest worry was the rain which we thought would interfere with the program since we are in a rainy season. You prayed and God answered. Thank you!

CERVICAL CANCER SCREENING AND SANITARY PADS

It was a great day and we had about 120 women who turned up. The youngest of the women was 17 years and the eldest was 60 years. The main objective of the conference was to sensitive the women on cervical and Breast cancer but went prepared just in case some women chose to get screened for cervical cancer. We screened 56 women and also gave out sanitary pads where each woman received 5 packs to take them for 3 months.  Good enough none tested positive. However, we got over 10 cases of women presenting with signs and symptoms of Pelvic Inflammatory diseases (PID), 8 cases of Candidiasis and 1 case of Uterine Prolapse which we referred to the National Referral Hospital called Mulago Hospital in Kampala.

Most shocking, in the above cases, women gave history of having Signs and Symptoms for over months but without treatment because:
  1. They lacked knowledge that such symptoms could worsen and cause complications.
  2. They could not afford the treatment and there are no nearby health services.
All the women that were screened went back with their medical forms which included their results. We also gave them customized numbers which we will be using for follow up in our next visit to that area.

CHALLENGES
Some of the challenges that we faced was that we do not have tents yet but the community improvised for the privacy of the women and also used the two screens (Curtains) that we had. We did not also have drugs to give out to the women who presented with cases but our medical team wrote the prescriptions at the back of the medical forms for the patients to buy the drugs.
Once again we want to say thank you for standing with us and may the good Lord bless you. We ask you to continue standing with us with your financial support and through prayers. Pray for the 18th April 2015 cancer screening program and for the May 30th Medical Mission.

Thank you for sharing the journey with us as we reach out to the people in the vulnerable communities. We love you and are thankful to God for your support.
