CHILDREN'S CAMP 20TH - 23RD AUGUST - Developing God fearing Leaders

Children's camps are some of the ways through which we get all our sponsored children and those that are still waiting for sponsors together. They are usually during the 2nd and 3rd term school holidays and its an opportunity to spend quality time with our children and to speak into their lives.   

Each camp has a different theme and all the activities in the camp are based on the theme of the camp, including the games. 

This holiday our camp was in Mityana District at New Hope Church and we had over 100 children including those in the Children's Sunday School at New Hope Church. Our sponsored children were from different regions and for some it was their first time to come to Kampala the capital of Uganda. 

The theme of the camp was"The Love of Jesus" from Mark 10;14. and each child was given a paper to draw their imagination of the love of Jesus and also to shade the ones we had prepared for them. It was a wonderful experience for all the children apart from Doreen one of the sponsored children who got malaria on the third day but was given treatment as we had moved with emergency medicine. 

We divided the children in groups for every activity including the games and every group was given a pack of candies accordingly.

Among the games that were interesting and hard were the water games where one had to collect water from a saucepan using hands and then transfer it to the neighbor until it got to the bottle and the first group to fill the bottle to a specific mark on the bottle won the game and a prize of candies. 

The other water game was to fill the bottle with water using bottle tops and the group that filled the bottle with water won the game. The other games were soccer, netball and skipping.

    

We invited speakers from other children's ministries and churches to share with our children and every child had a wonderful time during the camp. Each sponsored child wrote to his/her sponsor sharing their experience of the camp, school and home. 

Each child was given a deworming tablets on the third day and then we left on Sunday after the service. During the church service, the children ministered in a special song called "Shake your body to the lord....., why don't you raise up and dance for the Lord".

Prayer Points

1. Pray for the children waiting for sponsors for God to open doors for them.
2. Pray for the health of our children and that of their families
3. Pray for wisdom that they will perform well in their classes.
4. Pray for the children's sponsors that God will continue to bless them and enable them to support their children.
